Specialist Activities

We at EP&S use our professional expertise to carry out specialist activities to realise buildings that are comfortable and ensurelow energy waste. Our professionals and the tools they use ensure high quality standards thanks to cutting-edge IT systems.

EP&S’s specialist technicians perform fire prevention activities during the development and realisation stage of works, beginning with the request for the preventive opinion of the fire service (VVF) for industrial and commercial premises, entertainment and cultural venues, garages, and civilian buildings.

EP&S helps the Client obtain a fire prevention certificate (CPI) by preparing the fire service start-of-activity statement and report (SCIA) and verifying the conformity of the materials and systems installed.

The group plans and manages work on fire extinguishing systems, smoke detection and EVAC systems.

We at EP&S have had many years of experience in technical surveys in the field. We have always carried out continuous monitoring campaigns on structures, interpreting wireless results and delivering reports on the behaviour of complex works under load. We carry out research and provide consultancy on land seismicity, the conformation of excavation rock though geognostic, geophysical and geotechnical surveys. Our professionals also have consolidated experience in the ambit of the structural testing of bridges, tunnels, long-span floors and in that of Administrative Technical Testing.

We supply measurements, surveys and tests of thermal and electrical magnitudes:

  • Thermal imaging
  • Data-logs of temperature and relative humidity in confined
  • Measurements and inspections according to Presidential Decree 547 of 27/04/55
  • Continuity measurements of protective and equipotential earthing conductors
  • Measurements of earth resistance
  • Step and touch voltage for medium- and high-voltage faults
  • Functioning tests on differential protection devices
  • Measurements of loop fault resistance and impedance
  • Measurements of insultation resistance
  • Inspection and bringing up to code of places with danger of explosion
  • Inspection and design of lightning protection systems
  • Controls and measurements for medical environments and electro-medical equipment in compliance with CEI 62-5 II and CEI 64-4 standards
  • Analysis and measurements of energy quality
  • Controls and measurements of electromagnetic fields (narrow and broad wave, intensity, sources)
  • Thermal imaging
  • Illuminance measurement

Electromagnetic pollution, or electrosmog, refers to the generation of artificial electrical, magnetic and electromagnetic fields produced by technologies used by man that interfere with the natural electromagnetic radiation of the Earth.

The electrosmog phenomenon has a number of causes, especially sources of electrical fields such as: long-distance power lines for the transport of electric energy, radio and television signals, mobile telephony systems, biomedical apparatuses, industrial processing plants, household appliances and devices requiring electric current.

Careful study of electromagnetic phenomena through measurements and simulations permit us to choose the best solutions and screening systems to reduce the impact of electromagnetic pollution within the limits established by law.

Magnetic pollution can work on a number of levels: from the electromagnetic compatibilityto the workplace safety of staff operating in environments in which electrical equipment or conductors generate magnetic fields.

In both the civil and industrial ambits, the quality of the electric energy supplied by the Distributor plays a fundamental role insofar as it is a possible cause of poor service and system malfunctioning, which may lead to blackouts and consequent economic losses.

Electricity Network Quality analysis takes into consideration:

  • thecontinuity of the electric energy supply, namely theabsence of long or short interruptions by the Distributor;
  • the quality of the voltage supplied by the Distributor, namely the regularity of the waveform (amplitude, frequency, variations etc.).

Using the best instrumentation in keeping with the rules set out in standard IEC 61000-4-30, we make measurements and analyses in accordance with IEC EN 50160 to determine the causes of disturbances and, if necessary, support the client  in their choice of corrective measures,or in any complaints to the network administrator and the electric energy supplier.

In order to support the planning of technological plants and restoration, adaptation and upgrading work on them, we supply professional expertise and the instrumentation necessary to promptly reconstruct their existing condition, setting their layout and functional arrangement. .
We also carry out activities of:

  • Plant performance analysis
  • Energy performance analysis, assessment of primary energy consumption and running and maintenance costs
  • Evaluation of adaptation and upgrading solution techniques
  • Technical-energy feasibility analysis
  • Intervention cost estimates
  • Legal conformity inspections

All the above activities are carried out using cutting-edge techniques and instruments such as 3D surveys of buildings and plants with laser scanners.
